- The alumni actively participate in various development programs of the college. The MCU Medical Alumni Foundation in America was organized in 1984 through the initiatives of Mrs. L.T. Estanislao, Dr. LVC Quito and Dr. CM. Abesamis. Since then, through the alumni chapters in the Northeastern region, South and Northern California, Chicago and the Midwest, Michigan, St. Louis and Kentucky, donations in the form of medicines, equipment and cash have been received by the college and channeled to its various development programs, like the educational resources for faculty development, library and audio visual needs, research, professional chairs, scholarship, indigency programs in the hospital and community.
The Jubilarians of each year (25 th, 30 th, 40 th, 50 th) made very valuable and substantial contributions during their celebrations in support of the different programs of the College and Hospital.
The Lightkeepers’ program, a brainchild of Dr. Roger Roncal, ’62, is designed to provide adequate supplementary budget for the projects of the MCU-FDTMF, College of Medicine and Hospital. Acknowledgment of donations is as follows: Bronze Medal of Honor and Citation for $2,500 donation; Silver Medal of Honor and Citation for $5,000 donation; Gold Medal of Honor and a Presidential Citation for $10,000 donation; and Hall of Fame and a Presidential Citation for $15,000 donation.
This year a most encouraging proposal for all alumni gatherings authored by Drs. Norma M. Garcia and Rogelio B. Roncal, has the following Guiding Concepts:
“We the alumni, feel a debt of gratitude to our medical school and University. We are committed to support our Alma mater and ensure its continued existence to promote the health and prosperity of our people in the Philippines . In doing so, we also provide for the continuation of an opportunity for those who choose to follow in our footsteps. We are among the most respected medical graduates in our communities and we owe that to the values that our parents and Alma Mater has instilled in us.
Humbly, we assert that the world needs more of our kind.”
Locally, the Alumni Association also contributes its resources, time, talent and manpower to their Alma Mater. Many of the members of the staff are our graduates. We salute all our alumni for their generosity and concern. May your tribe increase!
