The Deans

The deanship of MCU-FDTMF is a position of honor that carries great responsibility. This top position requires several qualifications: a good academic background, managerial expertise and unquestionable integrity.

Eleven dean have been appointed from the time of the establishment of the College in 1947 until the present. Each dean faced the challenges and demands of the times. All performed to be the best of their ability, worthy of prestige and honor which the position carried with it. Each one left an indelible mark in the history of MCU-FDTMF. 

Present Dean

ELVIRA M. ABREU, M.D.

–  is a  former chair of MCU-FDTMF Department of Physiology from 1995 to 1998 and of Pediatrics from 1998 to 2001.  She was later appointed as  Chief of Professional Services from 2001 to 2004.  Her dedication for work paved the way for her to become the Medical Director from 2004 to 2005 and soon after that she proved her worth during her long stay in the position as  College Secretary  from 2005 to 2011

Her previous positions in the Academe provided Dr. Abreu the experience and proficiency in administrative and managerial abilities. She has been an active proponent of the MCU-FDTMF College of Medicine for nearly three decades which provided her the experience and the competence in carrying out her functions in upholding the tradition of excellence the foundation has always strived for.
