The Deans

The deanship of MCU-FDTMF is a position of honor that carries great responsibility. This top position requires several qualifications: a good academic background, managerial expertise and unquestionable integrity.

Eleven dean have been appointed from the time of the establishment of the College in 1947 until the present. Each dean faced the challenges and demands of the times. All performed to be the best of their ability, worthy of prestige and honor which the position carried with it. Each one left an indelible mark in the history of MCU-FDTMF. 

Present Dean

Divina Y. Beato M.D.

The present Dean is a graduate of Class '76 of MCU FDTMF College of Medicine. She had her pediatric residency training in MCU FDTMF Hospital . She was appointed Active Rotating Consultant in the same hospital after earning the title Diplomate and later she became Fellow of the Philippine Pediatric Society.

She went into the field of teaching, first in the Department of Pediatrics and later in the Department of Pharmacology in the same college.   She was appointed Chair of the Department of Pharmacology for 7 years and during that time she became Fellow of the Philippine Society of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology. She assumed the position of Coordinator of the Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs. She was also appointed to several committees both in the college and the hospital as chair or member. She was elected as Board of Directors of MCU Medical Alumni Association and now she is a member of the Committee on Election of the same organization.

She was the College Secretary for 7 years and assumed the position of Dean in June 2005. Her thrusts are the: Students/Alumni, Faculty, Curriculum, Facilities and Research.

She believes that “if we give our best to our students, they will graduate fully equipped in knowledge, skills and proper attitude of a primary care physician and they can become the best in whatever field they will undertake.”
