Objective:
General
• To increase the number of applicants for first year College of Medicine
• To screen all students applying for first year College of Medicine of their suitability for medical education

Specific
• To entice students from the different colleges of MCU to take up medicine in our institution
• To attract students from other school to consider MCU as an option in pursuing medical education
• To encourage offspring of alumni local and abroad to take up medical education in our institution

Accomplishments:
• Newspaper advertisement
• Career talk conducted to graduating students given by the Chair of the committee
• The committee has sent letters to 1043 Nmat Takers of December 2005 to encourage them to apply in our institution.
• Medicine week celebration in association with the MCUMAA showcasing College of Medicine was given by the Dean of the College-Dr. Divina Y. Beato.

Objectives:
General
• Evaluate the relevance of the medical curriculum of the MCU-FDTMF based on the standards set by APMC and CHED

Specific
• Initiate innovation and update of the medical curriculum
• Monitor all subjects with regards to:
1. curriculum folders including instructional design
2. evaluation tools and methods

• Recommend policies related to the implementation of the curriculum
• Conduct yearly evaluation of the curriculum
• Provide assistance to faculty to improve classroom instruction
• Produce quality and relevant researches on medical education.

Accomplishments:
• Recommended policies on attendance and examinations were submitted to the Dean for approval.
• Conducted a thorough evaluation of the curriculum in March 2006. Both faculty and students were asked to answer open ended questionnaires. The findings were presented to the Chairmen’s Meeting. A summer workshop was conducted on May 16, 2006 attended by Mrs. Estanislao, Dr. Quito, Dr. Beato, Dr. Abreu, and the chairs of all departments. Most of the proposed changes for the curriculum did not materialize. The CHED policy states that changes in the curriculum can only be implemented for the 1st year students. the administration is addressing the comments of the students regarding the facilities in the campus.

Objective :
General
• To upgrade the quality and usage of information resources and services of
MCU-FDTMF

Specific:
• To screen all textbooks and manuals
• To identify widely circulated journals and other references
• To evaluate journals for cancellation and replacement
• To facilitate needs of faculty and students
• To coordinate with other learning resources

Accomplishments:

• Requisition for the purchase of textbooks and renewal of journal subscriptions
• Recommendation for the subscription of journals for the basic departments – namely Biochemistry and Physiology
• Facilitated the requisition of journals and books of the different clinical departments
• Evaluation of departments’ manuals for its format and costing.
• Services rendered: Readers and circulation services, ID applications, library cards, technical services, bibliographic search services

Objectives:

General
• Assess the students’ academic performance on a semestral and yearly levels.

Specific:
• Implement the institution’s policies on promotion, retention, and debarment of students
• Identify poorly performing students in the different subjects who may need referral to the Advisorship, Guidance, and Counselling.

Accomplishments:
• 1st and 2nd year level: Intensive analysis and deliberation of the performance of all students. See detailed performance of all students in the individual report of the year level co-chairs.
•Dr. Abreu chaired the 3rd year level which is composed of the last batch of the Innovative Curriculum. Very closed monitoring of the performance of the students was done. There were about 20 special and summer classes conducted for this last batch.

Objectives: (Review)
a. Objectives
• General Objectives: To help the students attain 100% passing rate in the comprehensive exam and above the national passing rate in the physician licensure examination
• Specific Objectives:
1. To provide continuous review programs that will address the needs of our students: refresher course, review courses for the August and February Boards, comprehensive exam reviews, and SI and JI review programs.
2. To prepare evaluation tools for the different programs
Accomplishments (Review)
• SI and JI Reviews: conducted from November 7, 2005 to April 6, 2006 – Mondays and Thursdays 3 – 5 pm; 102 JIs and 51 SIs attended the review but attendance was very irregular.
• Review for the comprehensive exam: conducted from March 17 – 31, 2006 – Mondays to Fridays 8 – 8 pm; 30 3rd year students and 1 post JI graduate attended the review. Passing rate in the comprehensive exam was 45%.

b. Objectives: (Compre)
i. General Objective: To determine if the candidates for graduation have met the standards of competence required by the MCU – FDTMF
ii. Specific Objectives:
1. To evaluate by means of examination the capabilities of the students to qualify for graduation
2. To train our candidates for graduation on the conduct of the medical board examination.
3. To improve our graduates’ chances of passing the medical board examination.

2. To support financially deprived students.

1. Recruit deserving students for various scholarship grants offered by the institution

e. Accomplishments:
i. Recommended guidelines for the scholars and grantees
ii. Recommended 10 prospective scholars to the MCUMAA in America: 1 full scholar and 9 partial scholars; only 6 scholars enrolled.
iii. Formulated guidelines and chose the Most Outstanding Student of the graduating class 2006.
