Standing Committees

General Objective:
Assist the Dean in achieving the vision/mission of the College of Medicine

Specific Objective: Formulate/recommend to the Dean policies deemed necessary to
improve, upgrade/update and execute the objectives of the college.

3 Main Categories
Academics- Guide our students to achieve the competencies of the basic physician and graduate with the degree of Doctor of Medicine

Faculty and Student Development – Provide programs that will help our faculty staff and students develop their full potential for the maximum achievement of their
personal goals and that of the institution and society.

Public Relations - Help in the promotion of the good image of MCU-FDTMF College of
Medicine within and outside the institution.

MCU-FDTMF COLLEGE OF MEDICINE COMMITTEE ON ACADEMICS

ADMISSION
General Objective: Evaluates student applicants for entry in the College of Medicine
Specific Objectives:
1. Recommends to the Dean students who qualifies for admission in the College of Medicine
2. Assists in the active recruitment of students for the College of Medicine

CURRICULUM

General Objective: Evaluates the relevance of the medical curriculum of MCU-FDTMF College of Medicine based on the standards set by APMC and CHEd.

Specific Objectives:

•  Conducts yearly evaluation of the curriculum to ensure its relevance with
    the standards.
•  Assists the department chairs in completing their curriculum folder
    which contains the instructional design.
•  Provides seminars/workshops to improve the departments' curriculum.
•  Generates quality and relevant researches on medical education.
•  Recommends policies related to the implementation of the curriculum

LIBRARY & TEXTBOOK

General Objective: Offers optimum information resources to all our students and other customers of our institution.

Specific Objectives:
•  Screens, approves and cancels textbooks, journals and manuals
•  Updates list of journals, textbooks and other reading materials in the library
•  Recommends policies related to the utilization of the library and computer
    laboratory.
•  Facilitates research needs (journals and other resources) of faculty and students
•  Shares, coordinates and collaborates with libraries of other institutions.

PROMOTIONAL BOARD

General Objective: Evaluates the students' academic performance per semester and per year level.

Specific Objectives:

•  Implements/recommends changes in the institution's policies on promotion,      retention and debarment of students.
•  Identify poorly performing students in the different subjects who may need referral     to the Advisorship, Guidance and Counseling
•  Gets an overview of the retention and attrition rate of each department.
•  Encourages the department to seek ways by which it can assist students failing in     their subject.

COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION
General Objective: Evaluates the students’ cognitive skills prior to graduation.
Specific Objectives:
1. Recommends and implements policies related to the examination:
     • schedule
     • preparation of test questions
     • conduct of examination
     • setting of MPL
     • release of results
2. Maintains integrity of the examination
3. Reports on the performance of each department in this examination.
4. Correlates the performance of the students/departments in the CE and Review Program and CE and the BE.
5. Offers measures to help students who have not passed the examination after 3 takes.

REVIEW
General Objective: Assists students attain 100 % passing rate in the Comprehensive
Examination and above the national passing rate in the Philippine
Licensure Examination.
Specific Objectives:
1. Develops review programs intended for the following groups:
a. Students intending to take the comprehensive examination
b. Medical graduates intending to take the Philippine Licensure Examination
c. Medical graduates who have failed the PLE for 3 times and intending to take another board examination.
2. Correlates the performance of the students in the Review (MBE) and the results of the Board Examination
3. Recommends ways to improve our performance in the PLE
4. Reports on the performance of the departments on both the review and the board examination.

SCHOLARSHIPS
General Objective: Offers scholarships to deserving students.

Specific Objectives:
1. Sets the criteria and standards for academic scholarships and grant in aid
2. Identifies and recommends students who qualify for the scholarships and grant in      aid.
3. Monitors performance of students awarded with scholarship and grants.
4. Designs ways to help these students maintain their scholarships and grants for the
    succeeding years.

 

COMMITTEES ON FACULTY/STUDENT DEVELOPMENT

FACULTY AFFAIRS
General Objective: Creates programs to promote mental, physical, psychological, social and spiritual well being of the faculty.

Specific Objectives:
1. Promotes healthy attitude among all faculty members through fellowships and other worthwhile activities
2. Encourages faculty participation in all the activities of the college.

RANK AND TENURE
General Objective: Motivates, and develops our faculty staff based on their personal, professional and technical capabilities and potentials.

Specific Objectives:
1. Creates and utilizes an objective and acceptable evaluation system of faculty staff based on academic, teaching competencies, and professional achievements.
2. Reviews/revises the faculty evaluation scheme every 2 years or as need arises.
3. Assists in the periodic evaluation of the faculty using the evaluation scheme regularly for the purpose of promotion or re-appointment

STUDENT AFFAIRS
General Objective: Promotes healthy attitudes among all students through fellowships, seminars and other worthwhile activities.

Specific Objectives:
1. Supports student organizations with programs design to promote and sustain their educational and personal developmental goals.
2. Promotes and maintains students’ motivation to excel in their academics and in any other fields of interest within the objectives of the college.
3. Conducts seminars/workshops, fellowships and other activities that will promote their mental, physical, psychological, social and spiritual development

STUDENT ADVISORSHIP & GUIDANCE COUNSELING
General Objective: Provides a mechanism by which students can seek help when they are stressed or when they have problem which hamper their learning abilities.

Specific Objectives:
1. Encourages students to fully utilize the services of the Guidance counselor and their advisers
2. Assesses the mental and psychological capabilities of the students using tests available and makes recommendations on the basis of the results of these tests.
3. Establishes programs which can promote positive attitude

 

STUDENT DISCIPLINE BOARD
Gen. Objective: Provides a mechanism that will develop and sustain discipline among our students

Specific Objectives:
1. Conducts inquiries on referred cases pertaining to student’s misbehavior and violations of the existing policies of the University and the Foundation
2. Deliberates and recommends to the Dean of the College of Medicine certain action plans on the students’ misbehavior.
3. Monitors the implementation of the recommendations through the office of the Dean
4. Assist the Dean in the documentation of all the proceedings of the inquiry until the closure of the referred cases.

 

COMMITTEES ON PUBLIC RELATIONS
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
General Objective: Promotes the good image of MCU FDT Medical Foundation through information technology.

Specific Objectives:
1. Develops the faculty staff, students and non academic personnel to be knowledgeable in information technology
2. Maintains an updated computerized system and hard ware which will enhance research, teaching methods, communication system within and outside the institution

PHILIPPINE SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL
General Objectives:
1. Promotes the good image of MCUFDTMF through Philippine Scientific Journal.
2. Provides a medium through which the medical research and other scientific investigations of the College shall be disseminated.

Specific Objectives:
1. Encourages scientific writing among the students, trainees and faculty/consultant staff of the Foundation
2. Reflects the progress of the college in research and its contribution to the medical field/world literature
3. Maintains/upgrades our status as respectable member among the scientific publication in the local and international community

 

NEWSLETTER
General Objective: To promote the good image of MCU FDTMF through Newsletter.

Specific Objectives:
1. To provide a medium where MCU-FDTMF community and its alumni are informed of its current events and accomplishments
2. To encourage journalism among our students and faculty.

 

POST-GRADUATE COURSES

General Objective: Promotes the good image of the MCU FDT Medical Foundation through Postgraduate Courses offered by the different departments of the College of Medicine and Hospital.

Specific Objectives:
1. Collates all post graduate courses seminars & updates, preceptorship and fellowship programs offered by the foundation.
2. Helps in the promotion of this courses within and outside the campus
3. Encourages the departments to hold their post graduate courses in the campus to showcase MCUFDTMF College of Medicine and Hospital

 

PHYSICAL PLANT DEVELOPMENT
General Objective:
1. To promote the good image of MCU FDTMF Medical Foundation thru improvement/enhancement of existing physical facilities and acquisition of new facilities.

Specific Objectives:
1. To identify areas that need improvement/enhancement
2. To recommend upgrading of existing facilities or structure
3. To recommend acquisition/creation of new facilities that can serve the needs and concerns of the foundation community
4. To develop linkages with local national or foreign organization that can provide the institution with the needed facilities
